The Spine Surgery Clinical Observership offers exposure to a broad spectrum of disorders of the cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and pelvic spines. Our team specializes in the management of spine neoplasms and minimally invasive spine surgery.
The program develops in the three busiest referral academic centers for spine disorders in Colombia and Latin America, with the latest technologies for advanced spine surgery:

Hospital Universitario Clínica San Rafael
Directed to: International senior neurosurgery residents and neurosurgeons.
Duration: 3 up to 6 months
Available vacancies/number of positions: One observer per period.
The observer has no allowance for direct patient contact without supervision. Must always be under the guidance of the program director and spine faculty.
Four days a week are spent in the operating room, two days in the spine clinic, and one day in the research laboratory. No on-calls are scheduled.
The observer has the liberty to observe any spine surgery.
The observer is expected to:
Present weekly seminars to the attendings.
Have active involvement in our neurosurgical grand round lectures, journal clubs, and morbidity and mortality conferences.
Develop a minimum of one publishable clinical or basic science research project in collaboration with our research team.
Meals, lodging, and travel expenses are not included and are born by the accepted fellows.
Interested individuals should submit a letter of intent along with a current Curriculum Vitae (CV) to the CIEN fellowship application center.
Each application will be reviewed in its entirety with an eye toward a combination of overall academic excellence, leadership ability, career development potential, and personal character. Qualified individuals will be invited to interview. No interviews are scheduled without an invitation, and no individual interviews are scheduled outside of these scheduled sessions.
